About Us

Electric power cooperatives were created as an affordable way to bring electricity to areas that weren't being served by investor-owned utilities. When co-ops first strung lines across rural America, one of their primary missions was to help farmers, businesspeople and homeowners understand what electricity was all about, and what it could do for them.

For every prospective member who was excited about the wonders of electric lighting and refrigeration, there was another who had heard rumors of the dangers of electricity and the strange effects it could have on people and livestock.

That's why the first co-op employees became educators. As they traveled through their service territories securing easements for power lines, they answered questions and dispelled myths about electricity. And, as they energized each mile of line, they built a strong sense of trust with their charter members.

Today, with rapid changes in technology, members have more questions than ever before. Despite all the changes, your best source is a familiar one: your local electric power co-op. That's because Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives like ours have Energy Advisors on staff. They are local energy experts who provide honest, straightforward solutions to help co-op members with a wide variety of energy-related questions and concerns.

Whether you want to know how you can make your home more energy efficient, need easy-to-understand information about electrical safety or wonder whether geothermal heating and cooling is the right choice for your home or business, your Energy Advisor can help.
